Family History Research

West Yorkshire with its rich heritage attracted a wide range of people from all different walks of life and communities from the wealthy mill owners to those living in the squalor of back to back houses, from densely populated cities to rural countryside. It also has a history of being a diverse area attracting settlers from all over Europe and beyond.

It is fascinating helping other people to research their family trees, looking through census, birth marriage and death indexes and parish registers it is possible to trace family lines back several generations. However it is often the research that goes beyond just names and dates that really helps to provide insight into your ancestors and the kind of life they led. Wills, newspapers, trade directories, deeds, parish records and maps can all help to provide further insight into their lives, the occupations they had, the houses and local and social history of the area they lived in.

I can conduct research on families nationwide but I specialise on those in West Yorkshire as I can access a range of archives in the area and have knowledge of the local and social history of the area which can add insight into your ancestors lives.
