House History Research

The change of ownership of a property can be traced through the deeds. Deeds are large, long documents with wonderful handwriting and lots of legal phraseology so can be a bit daunting for those who are not used to them. Other documents may also be used to trace the history of a house including manorial and estate records, tithe records, wills, census, sanitary associations, maps and planning documents.

The amount of information available depends on the location of the property and what records have been handed over to the archives/libraries.
