Schools

Children learn and remember so much more when they can relate the topic to their local area. We are starting to work with schools in Bradford and the surrounding district to try and make history more local in an engaging and interactive manner. This can be through workshops, drama or providing interactive information sheets for walking tours etc.  Wherever possible we identify links to other curriculum areas such as science, literacy, maths. As this is area of work is just starting to be developed we can work with your school to develop materials with you.

Workshops currently under development include:

  • Victorians– KS2/KS3 - The Bradford Sweet Poisoning of 1858
  • World War One- KS2/KS3 – Bradford Hospitals or Food and Rationing
  • History of your school / local area– KS2/3 – using the census and your school log books to look at people who went to your school, what it was like at the time and the jobs they went on to do.
